Running over seven weeks, Wellbeing for Life is a psycho-educational course that has been designed for people who want to have a better understanding of their mental and physical wellbeing.

Each week, sessions will include the development of a personal Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) that can be used for support in the future.  

Attendance can be online or in person and we can discuss your preferences with you when you enrol.

The course

Week one: Believing in recovery

  • The concept of recovery in mental health
  • Starting a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)

Week two: Overcoming low mood

  • Low mood and how it can affect us
  • Simple coping skills to help manage low mood

Week three: understanding anxiety

  • Anxiety and how it can affect us
  • Simple coping skills to help manage anxiety

Week four: Improving physical health and wellbeing

  • Understanding how eating habits, physical activity and good sleep hygiene can affect health

Week five: Storying

  • Understanding how we all have stories that reflect who we are, and we are not solely defined by the problems we struggle with

Week six: Managing emotions

  • A look at what emotions are and why we have them
  • Ways to cope with distress and overwhelming emotions

Week seven: Stress and self-care

  • How stress affects our mental and physical wellbeing 
  • Tools and ideas to help develop strategies for self-care

How do I know if it is for me?

If you would like to attend you need to be able to:

  • Manage being in a group for two hours a week, for seven weeks
  • Be open minded to learning and practising new ways of coping

What should I do if I’m interested in attending?

If you would like to attend, you need to discuss it with your GP or mental health worker and they can refer you.

When we receive your referral we will offer you an enrolment appointment. This will give you an opportunity to find out more about the course and ask any questions you may have. This appointment will take approximately 30 minutes and can be over the phone or face to face.
