Wainwright Crescent has moved

On 5 July 2022 our respite service at Wainwright Crescent relocated to a cottage at Woodland View and was renamed 'Beech'.

Beech is a 10-bed residential step-down provision for service users discharged from the Trust’s inpatient wards.

We’re a unique service and one of only a handful of our kind in the country.

Our beds are a step-down for people leaving our inpatient wards before they are fully discharged back into the community.

Beech is a safe place where service users can focus on themselves and their recovery and rebuild their confidence without the worries of day-to-day life.

Respite care

Due to the continued demand for step-down care provision for people who have been supported on inpatient wards, Beech is not able provide respite care.

We advise all service users requiring respite care support to discuss their care package with their care co-ordinator in the first instance.

Support we offer

All of our service users are given an in-depth assessment of their mental and social care needs when they first arrive at Beech.

We work together to complete a collaborative care plan and a risk safety plan. Both of these plans identify goals with the ultimate aim being to live independently or in supported accommodation.

By building on strengths and offering practical support with daily living skills such as shopping, medication, budgeting, cooking and self-care we hope to make the transition back to the community as smooth as possible.

Our Discharge Facilitator also offers support with housing, accessing benefits and if appropriate, employment.

Facilities

Beech is self-catering accommodation and we do not provide meals.

Everyone has a private bedroom where we provide a television, towels and bedding. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, with access to communal lounges, dining areas and kitchen.

We have a large, secure garden that everyone has access to and there’s often activities arranged throughout the day for people to get involved in should they wish.

Visiting hours

Visiting times are subject to change if there are infectious outbreaks, such as COVID-19.

We welcome visitors from 8am to 10pm every day.

How is the service accessed?

The majority of our referrals come from the Trust’s inpatient wards.

To be referred you must be aged 18 or above and registered with a GP in Sheffield.

Please note that we do not offer personal care so anyone referred to us must have a level of functioning to cope with daily living skills, and must have capacity.
