As part of our commitment to working in partnership with the communities we serve, the team behind the new Gleadless and Heeley Neighbourhood Community Mental Health Centre pilot has been actively engaging with local residents and community groups to listen to their views about the new mental health service based at the Terry Wright Community Hall.
Over recent weeks, colleagues from the pilot team have been out and about in the Gleadless Valley and Heeley area, meeting with local organisations, attending community events, and holding conversations with residents and groups to better understand their needs, concerns, and hopes for the new centre. The new centre will be inside the Terry Wright Community Hall and will share facilities with some community groups.
This engagement is a vital part of our approach to coproducing services that are truly responsive to the people who use them. The feedback we’ve received so far has been thoughtful and helpful in shaping how the centre will operate and connect with the community. A big thank you to everybody who has joined these events and shared your thoughts.
To ensure transparency and keep the conversation going, we’ve published a selection of the most frequently asked questions from local community groups on our website. These include queries about access to services, how the centre will work with existing community resources, and what support will be available for different age groups and needs.
You can read the full list of questions and our responses here.
This is just the beginning. As the pilot progresses, we’ll continue to work closely with local people to ensure the centre becomes an inclusive and supportive space for mental health care in Gleadless Valley.
