At Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust, we are asking patients to use services wisely during industrial action by our colleagues in the ambulance services on 11 January 2023.
Our general advice is to use 111 online as the first port of call for health needs, using 999 only if it is a life-threatening emergency. Industrial action means urgent and emergency care services will be under increased pressure so it is vital that people use the services available appropriately.
Patients should continue to call 999 if anyone requires life-saving care, with ambulance services prioritising the most clinically urgent cases. If it is not life-threatening you may have to wait longer than usual for an ambulance.
If you or a loved one are already receiving support from one of our services, and you are in a mental health crisis and need urgent help, please contact your care co-ordinator straight away - we remain open for business as usual.
If your service is closed for the day or you do not currently receive support from one of our services and you need urgent help, you can contact our Single Point of Access on 0808 196 8281 (calls are free from a landline or mobile) or 0114 226 3636. They are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This phone line is not affected by NHS strike action.
