Pitchside with Brunsmeer Awareness

Get pitchside with Brunsmeer Awareness, a mental health friendly football group. It started in 2014 with people using inpatient ward services at SHSC wanting to have a kickabout and grew organically from there, with more structure and competitiveness coming in over the years.

Now hundreds use this group a year still and on a sunny day like this there's nowhere better to have a kickabout with people who grow to call each other friends.

Funding from Sheffield Hospitals Charity has helped the group go from strength to strength, with new equipment and better facilities to help players get the most out of it that they can.

It's really important that we help all of us, staff, service users and people in our wider communities, to move more for the physical, mental and social benefits that it can provide.

You can hear from Paul, a member of the group, on how it’s helped him in this video. You can also hear Sam Dawson, occupational therapist, and Callum Summerscales, fitness instructor, talking about the group and how it is supporting people who use our services.
