New group launched to help those with lived experience of addiction and recovery

Our Sheffield Treatment and Recovery Team (START) has launched a new group to help those with lived experience of addiction and recovery to connect with people and places to help with their recovery.

The Connections group launched on Saturday 1 April with the aim of encouraging positive and healthy links for members in a safe and supportive environment.

Many who have experienced addiction and recovery have become disconnected from people they know as well as places and activities they used to be close to.

The group is hosted by START Recovery Ambassadors and those taking part agree on any activities they want to carry out to promote inclusion and connection.

A diary of events has also been agreed for the coming weeks to ensure a full calendar of worthwhile activities.

The group runs every Saturday from 1pm until 7pm with coffee provided.

From 1pm until 4pm members connect with each other over some refreshments, providing positive peer support and agreeing on any future activities.

And from 4pm until 7pm members take part in agreed activities.

Anyone who has a lived experience in addiction and recovery is welcome to come along.

The group is free to attend and meets at Sheffield Treatment and Recovery Team, Sidney Street, Sheffield, S1 4RH
