New Director to focus on access and openness of mental health services

We are delighted to announce that we've appointed a new Non-Executive Director, Olayinka Fadahunsi-Oluwole (Yinka), to chair our committee on mental health legislation.

Yinka's role will directly impact on the experience of service users at SHSC, she will be working to make sure they receive services that are accessible, open, and fair.

Yinka also works as a Specialty Doctor in Community Paediatrics and Neurodisability at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. She moved to the UK from Nigeria in 1989 and has lived in Sheffield since 2017.

On her appointment to the role, Yinka said: “It is my fervent wish to support the Trust in promoting primary care, supporting mental health, learning disability, social concerns, and other specialist services.

“I believe diversity of race, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, and culture should be celebrated and respected with equal opportunities for all. It is the right of every single member of the Trust to be heard and have their concerns practically and sensitively addressed.

“As a black woman who has lived in the United Kingdom for over 30 years, I can support the Trust in building a happy and efficient workforce as we deliver excellent care. In addition, having a disability myself, I feel even more able to empathise with our clients, patients, and colleagues.

“I find it a great honour and privilege to have been given this opportunity at SHSC, to serve as a Non-Executive Director in the city I love and in a crucial field of health.”
