Healthier planet, healthier people: festival of sustainability back for 2025

The festival of sustainability is back with a bang for its second year, and will once again see all three Sheffield NHS Trusts host a combined agenda of events.

The festival is all about giving our city's health experts the opportunity to get involved in creating a greener future in Sheffield’s healthcare organisations.

A packed agenda is running throughout September, with any staff member from Sheffield Health and Social Care, Sheffield Children’s and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is welcome to attend any event.

Clinical sustainability, plant swaps, sustainable quality improvement, digital sustainability, clothes repairs, cycling skills and much more - the festival should have something to offer anyone.

Why are we doing this?

The climate crisis poses a threat to both physical and mental health, and we are coming together with Sheffield Children’s and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals to tackle the crisis as unified healthcare providers in the city.

The festival will provide opportunities for the Trusts to combine their expertise, hear from their neighbouring experts, and offer better opportunities to learn knowledge and skills that everybody can use to support this work.

As the largest employer in Britain and in Europe, the NHS can play a significant role in reducing our carbon footprint as a nation and reducing the risks that it has on the public’s health.
