Digital literacy: how we are transforming confidence and collaboration

Our digital literacy pilot programme is all about helping our staff feel more confident and capable in today’s digital world. It gives colleagues the chance to build practical skills with everyday digital tools, work better together, and feel more at ease using technology in their roles. It’s not just about learning systems, it’s about boosting confidence and encouraging collaboration.

The project is continuing to make waves across teams, giving them increased confidence, stronger collaboration, and a renewed sense of value in their roles.

Katie Bray, site leader, has seen first-hand how this project can help to transform and improve the confidence of those who attend. Here's what she said about the project:

"When I first heard about the project, I was quite interested in it because some of my staff have problems with computers. If people offer anything to do with computers, I like to get involved because I didn’t use computers at school, and think learning where we can is essential.

"Before the project, most of my team didn't have confidence using computers. Most of them struggled to do their online training. Now they are turning on a computer, logging on and doing training and are more confident about helping each other.

"There has also been a huge difference in people whose first language isn’t English, this project has increased their confidence and I have seen a huge difference.

"Previously, I would spend a lot of time supporting them but now they don’t need much support, they are either doing it themselves or asking each other. I look forward to the working day because the team works so brilliantly together, the project has reduced the amount of stress and friction as now we all work together collaboratively.

"If you are a manager, I really encourage you to take part in this project. It's a fantastic opportunity for people to learn essential skills and to better themselves. This project brings encouragement and support to those who really need it."

The success of the digital literacy pilot is a powerful reminder that investing in people’s confidence and skills can transform not only how teams work, but how they feel about their roles. By creating a culture of support, learning, and inclusion, the programme has empowered people to grow together.
