'Conversion therapy' statement published

We have published a public statement that formally states our opposition to 'conversion therapy'.

'Conversion therapy' is about about interventions or practices aimed at changing or suppressing someone's sexual orientation or gender identity. The consensus amongst medical and mental health professionals is that it is not ethical, safe or effective therapeutic practice.

At SHSC we do not support this practice and we have made this clear in our statement, which was produced by our rainbow staff network group. Our rainbow staff network group is a safe and inclusive place for be LGBTQ+ staff, volunteers and allies to discuss inclusivity and equality at work.

You can read the statement here.

Our board met on Wednesday 30 July when they agreed our opposition to this harmful practice. We stand together with our be LGBTQ staff and service users. Our commitment is rooted in respect and inclusivity, values at the heart of everything we do at SHSC.
