Continued 'Good' rating for Birch Avenue nursing home

Well done to our staff at the Birch Avenue nursing home after the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated it as ‘good’ in a recent exercise.

Birch Avenue is a Nursing home for people living with Dementia and complex needs that require nursing care.

The building is owned by South Yorkshire Housing Association (the registered provider) with Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust employing all the staff and giving care to the residents.

At the last full inspection of the facility back in 2018 the CQC rated all five categories of inspection (safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led) as ‘Good’.

And in January this year the CQC found the home to still be giving good care.

“Well done to all the staff involved, said Emily Blakeman (Clinical Manager at the site).

"The wellbeing of our residents is at the heart of all we do, we love working here and caring for residents, even with the challenge of their complex needs, making sure they are safe, have dignity and most importantly quality of life!

“Everyone at the home works really hard to give our service users the best possible care and it is pleasing to see the CQC recognising the work that makes that possible.”
