99 reasons we can handle this heat

Hundreds of cooling ice creams are being given out to staff and service users at SHSC as we look to handle the soaring temperatures this week.

Over Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 July ice cream vans are travelling round to some of our sites to hand out the wonderfully welcomed whippys.

We prioritised the sites with the most vulnerable service users who wouldn’t be able to get out to a van or shop themselves.

We also made sure the vans are playing their arrival tunes during the heat of the day, so the ice creams have the greatest impact in soothing our service users.

The sites are:

  • Forest Close
  • Forest Lodge
  • Grenoside Grange
  • Woodland View and Beech
  • Longley Centre
  • Michael Carlisle Centre

Of course everybody at SHSC is continuing to work incredibly hard despite the draining heat.

We are grateful to everyone for doing their best to keep service users comfortable and supporting other members of Team SHSC.

A special mention must go to Lisa Tearney in our procurement team who managed to find an ice cream supplier in a heatwave!
