Carers Action Group - November 2023

If you are a carer of somebody who uses or has used SHSC services, please come to this meeting where we take feedback gathered about carers’ experiences and turn it into actions.

What is the group about?

At this group we meet four times a year to look at all  the feedback we have received from our Carers Open Door Group and use it to make changes happen.

We bring together staff and carers, look at what needs to happen to improve the experiences of carers, and turn this into an action plan.

The group is compassionate, uses accessible language, visual representations and aims to be jargon free.

How does the group work?

The group is co-chaired by our Carer Lead and somebody with lived experience. You will also hear from other SHSC staff who are committed to driving the changes that need to happen, community partners and carer-led organisations who work in the best interest of carers.

The meeting is very informal and we follow an agenda to keep us focused. There are some papers involved in this, although we try to keep them to a minimum.

This group feeds back to the Carers Open Door Group about what we’ve discussed, as well as to the Lived Experience and Coproduction Assurance Group which is there to keep us on track and moving forwards.

How do I join?

We meet in an accessible meeting room to make sure as many people as possible are able to join us. You can also join the meeting on Microsoft Teams.

If you would like to participate please contact Jenny Hall, Carer and Patient & Carer Race Equality Lead for an initial conversation:
