If your drinking is starting to impact on your quality of life, or the lives of others, it may be time to ask for help.

The Alcohol Service offers free support to anyone over the age of 18 who lives in Sheffield.

We can give you information, advice, support and treatment to help you make changes to your drinking and begin your recovery journey.

We can also provide support if you are affected by someone else’s drinking.

This service is commissioned by the Drug and Alcohol Co-ordination Team at Sheffield City Council

Support on offer

Once you have been referred to us you’ll be seen within seven days.

When we first meet with you we’ll carry out an assessment which will include considering your physical health, wider social situation and the impact your drinking might be having on your life, and agree a plan for how to proceed with your care.

That might include accessing talking therapies or getting support from our medical and nursing teams.

You’ll also have the opportunity to attend our peer support groups where you can meet people who have completed treatment and can share their experiences.

If you’re in treatment and interested in finding or returning to work, our employment support specialists can provide help with applications, CVs and interviews.

Whatever support you access you’ll move at a pace you are comfortable with and we’ll make sure you have everything you need during your recovery journey.

How is the service accessed?

Anyone living in Sheffield who is aged 18 and over can refer themselves to our service.

If you’re under 18 support is available from The Corner.

You can make a referral by giving us a call, dropping us an email or you can even pop-in to see us in person – you don’t need an appointment.

We also accept referrals from any professional you are involved with, such as GPs, social workers, pharmacists or probation workers.
