January is Eat Well Month!
This month, following the excesses of the festive period, the 12 for 12 campaign is focussing on eating well and following a healthy lifestyle. We all know it can be hard to get into and maintain a healthy eating pattern and so we hope you will find the information below helps with this a little. Our on-site cafes and canteens are getting us off to a good start with some special offers and healthy recipes available throughout January. We will be holding a Healthy Eating Market Place Event where the entries to the Great SHSC Bake Off will be judged, sharing with you ideas and tips for healthy eating, addresses of useful websites, smartphone apps and healthy recipes, and finally holding a team lunch challenge.
| Lightwood House Canteen | 'Healthy Eating Days' every Thursday in January. This will include a meal deal and promotional cards/posters; homemade soup using Weightwatchers recipes; highlighting low fat meals on the menu and displaying the recipes, and samples of different healthy snacks. |
| Tudor Cafe | Will be introducing smoothies to the menu, and also offering a January meal deal based on healthy eating. |
| Busters Cafe | Will be offering a healthy option at lunchtime throughout January along with other promotions. |

We hosted a 'healthy eating event' in the Mayfield Suite at Fulwood on the 20th January, 11am-2pm. There were various stalls showcasing fruit and salad tasters, exercises, and products to buy from stores such as Holland and Barrett. The event was well-attended and a great success.
We held a 'Bake Off' as part of the healthy eating event on 20th January, inviting staff to bake something tasty and healthy. There were 2 winners of the 'Bake Off' - Debbie Cundey and Fatima Qasim - congratulations to them both!
