12 for 12 Campaign

12 for 12 Campaign

The 12 for 12 campaign has now finished.  Every month between September 2011 and August 2012 we had a different theme to help encourage SHSC staff to have fun, get active and feel good, with related activities and information on what you can do in and around Sheffield on that month's theme.

We were awarded a silver certificate from the NHS Sport & Physical Activity Challenge, a scheme inspired by the 2012 Games to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage and support staff to get more physically active.

A final report summarising the campaign and its effectiveness has been written - click on the link below to view the report:

Launch Events

We held 2 launch events in September to help get the campaign started.  BBC Look North's Tanya Arnold and Sheffield Wednesday's Captain Rob Jones came along to give some celebrity support.

We also received messages of support from Peter Elliott MBE, former Olympic athlete and Dave McCarthy from Sheffield United Football Club.

"I am sorry not to be there with you on the day however; I would like to send my best wishes to everyone taking part and as we are about to enter into an Olympic year please remember ‘its not the winning but the taking part that counts’. I hope the event goes well and you feel the benefit for participating in such a great fitness  initiative........ Today Sheffield, next year the Tour De France!"  Peter Elliott MBE

"Sheffield United is very happy to support the Sheffield Health and Social Care 12 for 12 campaign which ties in with the Olympic theme. We fully appreciate the importance of promoting staff health and well being.  Our community division,  The United Initiative, is developing a number of health programmes with different groups and this fits in well.  Getting individuals active is a great way to start."  Dave McCarthy

Each month there will be a small prize allocated to a member of staff who has taken part in an activity related to the theme for that month.  All you need to do to enter is fill in the appropriate entry form for that month.

If you have any questions about the campaign please either contact one of the site reps or email 12for12campaign@shsc.nhs.uk.

If you are interested in organising an activity in your area, team or site please contact the reps for that month to discuss your ideas with them.  You will find the names of the reps at the bottom of each month's page.
