How can we help you?

We provide support, advice and information to anyone wanting to make changes to their drinking habits.  We also provide advice and support to people affected by someone else’s drinking.

Our service opens the door to alcohol treatment in Sheffield.

How do I get the support?

Anybody can call us:

  • You can ring for yourself if you want help
  • You can call for someone else if they are happy for you to do so
  • A professional who is worried that someone they are working with has problems can also contact us

Call 0845 345 1549 for an appointment.

You will be offered an appointment within 5 days.  We will try our best to find an appointment that suits you.

Appointments are available Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm, with some evening appointments also available.

We will send you directions and public transport routes to the service, which is in the city centre.

What will happen when I come and see you?

You will see an alcohol worker for a short appointment.  Together, you will discuss your

  • alcohol use
  • Goals
  • and any other health issues that may be concerning you.

You will both draw up a care plan, based on your needs.  This will reflect your joint decision about the service(s) which will suit you best.

What is a Care Plan?

A care plan is simply a record of your needs, and what actions you and your worker will take to help you meet your goals.

Your worker will offer you a copy of your care plan to take away with you, if you want to.

Call 0845 345 1549 for an appointment.

What happens next?

There a number of different services to support people to change their drinking habits.

You might:

  • Have further appointments with your worker to support you to achieve the goals you have set yourself.
  • Be referred to a specialist counsellor if you need longer or more in depth sessions.
  • Be referred for another appointment if you, or your worker think your alcohol use is damaging your physical or psychological health.
  • Talk about the possibilities of detoxification, and go to see someone who can talk to you about this process.
  • Be thinking about residential rehabilitation services—again, your worker can put you in touch with the right people, if this is one of your options.

Confidentiality

Information about you and your treatment will be kept securely and confidentially.  We will only ever give information about you to others in exceptional circumstances.
